Crime is down in Chesterfield

Monthly crime figures for Chesterfield town centre show that there has been a drop in the number of offences committed. has released the latest data from June 2016 where only 165 crime were committed compared to the 203 in May.

There were 81 anti-social behaviour offences and the area with the most call outs were in the Corporation Street area.

Derbyshire Constabulary had to deal with 23 shoplifting cases and 23 acts of violence and sexual assault.

Chief Constable, Mick Creedon said: “Derbyshire has reduced recorded crime by 50 per cent over the past 11 years but there remains areas of concern.”

There were seven offences which were described as ‘other thefts’ there were two counts of theft from a person and four public order offences were recorded.

There were four problems with drugs in the 30-day period along with two counts of burglary and three of criminal damage or arson.

Derbyshire Constabulary covers a population of 1.03 million and after a second inspection by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary the force was rated as good for the extent to which the constabulary is efficient at keeping people safe and reducing crime.
