Could nearly 40 houses be built in New Mills?

There could be 37 new homes in New Mills after plans to build the houses have been submitted to High Peak Borough Council.

The land to the rear off the Old Vicarage on Marsh Lane is currently disused brownfield land but if given the green light would be transformed into 16 homes for affordable rent; seven for low cost home ownership and 14 homes for open market sale with associated access, parking and landscaping.

The existing workshop would be demolished.

Applicant Chris Little from The Guinness Partnership Limited said in the submitted plans: “The proposed development has maximised opportunities to make best use of this under-utilised brownfield site. It will promote all the benefits of its sustainable location as an extension to the existing residential community, reinforcing a sense of place at such an important junction to the area.”

A decision is expected at the end of October.
