Comedian gets rescued from Cromford cliff
Funny-man Davis – whose films include Willow, Return of the Jedi and the Harry Potter series – visited the Dales to film new TV series, Weekend Escapes with Warwick Davis.
In the series, Davis and his family travel around the UK to prove you can have the holiday of a lifetime right at home.
The family’s first stop was the Peaks and Dales, where Davis got stranded 40 feet up a pole with Derbyshire Mountain Rescue – before the team rescued the comedian from Black Rocks, in Cromford.
Kevin Corcoran, of the team, said: “Warwick was a real trooper. Even though the filming had overrun and he was very tired, he was up for anything and such a great guy.
“I’ve been a big fan of Warwick’s work, especially Life’s Too Short. He always comes across as a really good guy when you see him on the television and I’m really pleased to say that’s exactly what he was like in real life.”
Davis’ career began at 11 when he appeared in Star Wars film, Return of the Jedi. He worked with George Lucas again on the 1988 fantasy film Willow, and later played a villainous goblin in the Leprechaun movie series. He has also appeared in Doctor Who and played Professor Flitwick in the Harry Potter films.
His TV roles include Ricky Gervais shows Extras, An Idiot Abroad and Life’s Too Short.
Weekend Escapes with Warwick Davis will be aired on Friday at 8pm on ITV.
