This month, I’m going to tell you the difference between a skin condition and a skin type so you don’t confuse yourselves with the wrong one.

Skin type

A skin type is what you are naturally born with and can’t be changed but can be managed with the correct products.

Dry, oily and combination skin, acneic skin, and sensitive skin are all a type of skin.

Skin condition

A skin condition is something that you may have developed from things such as age, hormones, environmental exposure and/or damage but can be cured again with the correct product use.

Dark circles affect a lot our population and is caused by hyper pigmentation and deoxygenated blood vessels.

Using products with ingredients like retinol, liquorice and niacinamide will certainly help to eliminate them.

Also, for tired looking eyes, try the old ‘tea bag method’ pop two tea bags in a mug, pour boiling water over them and let stew for a few seconds, squeeze them out and let cool, then apply to your eye area for five to minutes.

Burning, itching, prickling and stinging are all symptoms of sensitive skin so try and look for ingredients such as oat, ginger and bisabolol in your products.

These are all widely recognised anti-inflammatory ingredients that will help to soothe and reduce redness and effectively calm your skin.
