A crowd of 3,000 completed the 5km challenge but were not just red in the face at the end of the run - but covered in every colour in the rainbow.

The ‘Run or Dye’ event saw participants start the run dressed in white and finish it covered from head to toe in different coloured dyes sprayed on them along the route.

Money raised by the runners will go to the Help for Heroes charity, with some wounded servicemen, women and veterans among those who took part in the event on Sunday.

The charity helps injured soldiers, sailors and airmen move on with their lives following injury and illness caused by serving their country.

It offers grants to the injured servicemen and women and runs a number of recovery centres across the UK.
