A wonderful matching tea set, made by London Britannia in 1889, featuring a sugar bowl, teapot, hot water jug and milk jug was taken along to our free valuation day at The Devonshire Dome in March.

Our valuer in Buxton, Sonia Jackson, also uncovered two magnificent silver sauce boats with scroll handles which were made in London in 1898.

All the pieces are superb. Lift them and you can feel the weight of the silver. They are of the highest quality. The tea set features the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths trademark, confirming it is of elite quality.

All the silver has been entered into our June summer fine art and jewellery auction and is destined to do well. The tea set has an estimate of £600-£650 and the sauce boats have an estimate of £350-£400.

It is finding treasures like these that set our valuation events alight. We love meeting people out on the road and do our very best to get into the heart of Derbyshire. We will be in Buxton again in April so do delve into your attics and drawers.

Just lately we have been truly blessed with great silver finds. For example, our March fine art auction included a stunning George III soup tureen, which dates back to 1812. New to the market, it had been in the same noble Midlands family for more than two centuries. It sold for £4,000.
