A planning inspector has dismissed an appeal against High Peak Borough Council’s refusal to award Cavendish Golf Club permission to build four detached houses on land adjacent to Gadley House, on Manchester Road.

Councillors had rejected the plan over concerns about its impact on the surrounding area, and the lack of any affordable housing.

A report to be presented to a meeting of the council’s Development Control Committee later this month states: “Although the site lies within an accessible location and would provide for additional funds for the golf club, the inspector concluded that this would not outweigh the harm that would be caused to the character and appearance of the surrounding area and from the failure to provide affordable housing.”
