A popular Buxton bar has closed its doors after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus.

The Buxton Brewery Tap House and Cellar announced its shutdown via Facebook.

A spokesman said: “Having followed all government guidelines throughout this period, we have taken the extra precautionary step to temporarily close.

"This is due to a part-time member of staff testing positive for COVID-19 this morning (yesterday).

"We are closed while we review the situation, and hope to be open again very soon.

“Now, as ever, the health, safety and wellbeing of all our staff and customers remain our first priority.”

The bar, in the Old Court House, is among the most popular in Buxton town centre.
