Derbyshire has a rich and storied history, and is home to some of the UK’s most beautiful countryside – meaning unique attractions and landmarks can be found in every corner of the county.
We have compiled a list of some of the most unique places to visit across Derbyshire and the Peak District this autumn – which could not be mirrored in other parts of the country.
The full list can be found below – will you be visiting any of these special attractions over the coming weeks?

21. Learn more about the ‘Padley Martyrs’
Arriving at Grindleford Station, walkers can follow Padley Gorge up onto the moors, before taking in the scenery at Surprise View and looping back round to the station. The walk can also be combined with a visit to Padley Chapel, a Grade I listed building located at the site where the ‘Padley Martyrs’ - two Catholic priests who were executed for treason - were discovered in 1588. 23. Industrial heritage
The Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site sits along the River Derwent. It was here that the modern factory system was born in the 18th century - which later spread across Europe and the United States. Photo: Brian Eyre

24. Sample the famous waters at a former Roman settlement
The Romans were the first to discover the springs around Buxton, and they called the town ‘Aquae Arnemetiae' - ‘The Spa-Town of the Sacred Groves’. Buxton has been famous for its healing waters for centuries, and it can be sampled straight from the spring at St Ann's Well in the town centre. Photo: jason chadwick
