Manifold Valley Show – which celebrated its 40th anniversary last year – is cancelled

Organisers of the popular agricultural event - which draws over 100 stalls every year - made the decision following latest Government updates on coronavirus.

The show - which has been running since 1979 - draws farmers showing cattle and horses and their spectators from all over Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

Popular spectacles include slow tractor racing, shire horses and duck-herding alongside the usual cattle displays and equine events such as show jumping.

The Manifold Valley Society - which runs the event - also provides bursaries to young people from the area going into further education.

Nik Searston, chairman of the Manifold Valley Society, said: “It is with a sincere sense of responsibility that we have to announce the cancellation of the 2020 Manifold Valley Show.

“We know this will be a disappointment to everyone who supports the show each year and enjoys all it has to offer.

“We’re extremely sorry that the show will not take place this year and apologise to all those people who were looking forward to it.

“The decision was not taken lightly and we feel sure people will understand and agree – we are now working on making sure that 2021 will be a show to remember.”

The 2021 show is scheduled to take place on Saturday August 14 at its home in Ilam.
