Stunning images show inside derelict Peak District pub facing demolition - once visited by Taylor Swift and Harry Styles

Urban explorers have taken a number of fascinating pictures inside an iconic Peak District pub facing demolition.

The Rising Sun, a 12-bedroom hotel and pub, on Hope Road, near Bamford, was visited by pop megastars Taylor Swift and Harry Styles in the run-up to Christmas 2012.

However, it closed in March 2017 and has stood empty ever since.

It is now set to be demolished after the Peak District National Park Authority granted planning permission for it to be knocked down and replaced with a new, 60-bedroom hotel.

But before it is flattened, urban explorers from Abandoned UK have been inside and taken some fascinating pictures of the interior.

They said: “Parts of the building date back as early as the 18th Century, but unfortunately it looks set for demolition in the near future to be replaced by a larger, more modern hotel.

“There have been a few set-backs so far with planning due to the proposed size of the replacement building which is why The Rising Sun is still sat there today.”

However, a Derbyshire Police spokesman, talking about the dangers of derelict buildings, said: “Insecure disused buildings pose a serious risk to anyone who enters them.

“Such sites are often in serious states of disrepair and have a number of potential dangers within them.

“Those entering these types of site are leaving themselves vulnerable to serious injury and even death.

“If you are concerned about the security of a building, you should make the relevant local authority aware. If, however, there is an ongoing situation that is an emergency, contact the police on 999.”

The new hotel is set to be operated by new chain Bike & Boot after the firm confirmed it was planning to open a new Peak District hotel next year.
