Never before have we spent so much time in our homes, whether that’s working from home, or being furloughed, or many parents having the very difficult and stressful job of homeschooling the kids.

Add into the mix financial worries and it’s definitely a difficult time for everyone right now.

So with that in mind, we’ve teamed up with award-winning Buxton chef Robert Stordy for a new online series – designed to help you make the most of both your time, and your budget, when it comes to feeding yourselves and the family.

Robert has a huge wealth of experience in catering, having achieved his professional qualifications at Hollins College which is now part of Manchester Metropolitan University.

During his long and successful career he has worked in some of the most prestigious hotels in the UK including the Savoy and Claridges in London, and Gleneagles in Scotland as well as working in the Channel Islands, Italy and Dubai.

More recently, Robert lectured in Culinary Arts at the University of Derby’s Buxton campus for 11 years before retiring in 2016.

He has won numerous awards including North West Chef of the Year, University Chef of the Year and been a Gold medallist in several culinary competitions. He has cooked for celebrities and many members of the Royal Family.

He is a Fellow of the World master Chefs Society and is also the author of book ‘On Cooking’ which aims to provide the reader with easy to understand information about a broad range of food and cooking issues, including many secrets and tips of the trade along the way.

Since retirement, Robert has also been improving his chocolate skills, which has now become a passion.

Robert will now be working with the Advertiser to help readers with any culinary conundrums they may have. As well as answering your questions, he’ll also be producing videos to share tips and information. He’ll look at the best ingredients to have in your cupboards to help with budgeting and meal prep, as well as tackling any food-related issues you raise.
