Car fans offered the chance to earn £250 a day reviewing supercars

Petrolheads are being offered the unique opportunity to review supercars and get paid £250 a day for doing it.

The eye-catching advert for the dream job has been posted by high-end car dealership Dick Lovett, which is looking for someone to become its first-ever “supercar critic”.

The dealership sells new models from a who’s who of sports car brands, including Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche and Jaguar as well as having a huge selection of exclusive used cars including limited edition Astons, Classic Ferraris and Bentley limousines.

The temporary role will require the successful applicant to rate and review a selection of the dealership’s supercars, which it is hinted could include McLaren, Bentley, Lamborghini, Pagani, Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

Of course, such an offer sounds almost too good to be true and there are some catches.

The first biggy is that it’s not a full-time job, so don’t start planning that trip to the Maldives just yet. It’s a one-off gig as part of the specialist dealer’s spring marketing campaign. The successful applicant will spend a day at the Swindon showroom, rating a selection of the vehicles in stock, giving the opinions and sharing their experience on social media.

The second catch is that you won’t actually get to drive the cars. Instead you’ll be able to explore the various models inside and out before being driven around in a selection of them by one of the dealership’s regular staff.

Given that the dealership’s current stock includes such vehicles as a £1.8m Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Speedster - one of just 28 in existence - a £1m Ferrari F40, and an 1964 Aston Martin DB5 value at £850,000, it’s not surprising that they’re not willing to hand over the keys to just anyone. Still, getting paid £250 to take a passenger ride in any of those sounds worth the effort.

And thirdly, you’ll have to make your own way to and from the dealership in Swindon, meaning you might spend all your earnings just getting there.

Still fancy it? Applications are open on the Dick Lovett website now until Friday February 29, with the winner announced on March 4. The winner will be able to choose from a selection of dates between March and May 2020 for their full-day experience.
