A spokesperson from Led Panel Store said: “It was interesting to find from our research that the East Midlands, particularly Buxton, had such a high energy usage.

“And whilst that doesn't necessarily suggest that these areas are the least eco-conscious, it does mean that they may be spending more money compared to the rest of the country on their energy consumption - especially if the region is using older lighting equipment.

“We are aiming now to work even more closely with our customers in the East Midlands to ensure they are choosing the most energy-efficient products and place them in a way that reduces lighting overspill - not only saving them money but helping reduce their carbon footprint along the way.”

The findings were part of a wider analysis that looked at how the energy towns and cities are using compares to crime and light pollution. Find the research in more detail here.
