See inside the Peak District home which was the inspiration behind Charlotte Bronte’s famous novel

Author Charlotte Bronte visited the Peak District in 1845. Two years Jayne Eyre was published and her memories of Hathersage can be seen across her pages.

Her rugged moorland describes the Peak DIstrict’s hills and there was even a real Eyre family who once lived in the Hope Valley.

Bronte’s iconic literature is still read more than 250 years later so here are the pictures of the impressive North Lees Hall, which Charlotte Bronte saw when she first arrived in the village, which became the template for Mr Rochester’s ‘Thornfield Hall’.
