Police address coronavirus fears as neighbours spot ‘men in balaclavas’ searching Buxton flat

Police have made a move to reassure residents about coronavirus after a flat was searched by ‘men in balaclavas’ in Buxton.

Officers visited a flat in the Thornwood Court area yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, March 3) to carry out the search in which a man and a woman were later arrested.

As the officers were wearing masks residents had raised concerns due to the recent coronavirus outbreak.

But a spokesperson for Derbyshire Police offered this reassurance to them: “We are aware of comments on social media that residents saw officers in balaclavas at the address and are concerned that this is due to coronavirus.

“We want to reassure residents that this is not the case, this is simply the standard uniform issued to all firearms officers.”
