Chesterfield's coronavirus death toll reaches 70 as two more patients die

Both patients died yesterday, Thursday, April 23, and their deaths were confirmed this afternoon by NHS England.

Across England, another 587 people have died after testing positive for COVID-19, taking the number of confirmed deaths at hospitals nationally to 17,373.

The latest figures from NHS England are for deaths which have been reported at hospitals across England as of Thursday, April 23, at 5pm.

They do not include deaths in care homes or elsewhere in the community, and some hospital deaths take a while to be recorded in the official figures, meaning the true tally is likely to be considerably higher.

Across Derbyshire, 987 people have now tested positive for coronavirus, according to the latest update from Public Health England, following a daily rise of 18.
