Jean Pott was rushed to Stepping Hill Hospital on June 23 after turning ‘grey’ and suffering with breathing difficulties.

The great-grandmother of 13 was placed on a ventilator and tested positive for Covid-19 the following day.

However her coronavirus infection was complicated as she was found to be suffering from heart failure caused by a faulty heart valve.

Incredibly after just two days the ‘feisty and sassy’ supergran had recovered sufficiently to be taken off ventilation.

She was kept in for a month in otherwise perfect health while doctors monitored her due to her high-risk heart condition and pending a negative Covid-19 test result.

Granddaughter Sophie Potts said she and the rest of Jean’s worried loved ones were ‘overjoyed’ at her recovery.

Sophie said: “She was strong because she had to be and for that we’re proud - she’s the woman I admire the most and if I end up as strong and as powerful as her I’m winning.

“While she was in hospital she was really worried and just wanted to come home - she was ringing every day asking when she could leave.”

Sophie, 26, described her beloved gran’s survival as ‘pretty incredible really’ when her heart condition was taken into account.

Mum-of-one Sophie told how widow and mother-of-two Jean - who lives alone in a bungalow in Chapel - had now returned to her normal ‘happy and jokey’ self.
