The Department of Health confirmed that a coronavirus patient is being treated at a specialist centre at Royal Liverpool Hospital.

Zoe Milly Jones was on Clifton Road, Buxton at around 10.45pm yesterday (February 26), when she saw two ambulances, escorted by police cars, stop on the road.

She claimed that after putting hazmat suits on, two ambulance staff put on protective clothing before entering the address.

Ms Jones added that the ambulance, escorted by police, then took the patient to Royal Liverpool Hospital.

The news comes after patients were advised not to attend Buxton Medical Practice, on Temple Road, due to a confirmed case of coronavirus.

Burbage Primary School in the town sent a message to parents to advise that the school would be closed due to a ‘confirmed case of coronavirus’ among the parents.

As of 26 February, a total of 7,132 people have been tested in the UK, of which 7,119 were confirmed negative and 13 positive.
