Despite the dreadful weather, over 1,500 visitors flocked to the Long Lane school’s eighth annual Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) Fun Day.
Headteacher Simon Grieves hailed the “fantastic” event, adding: “We were delighted to welcome so many visitors and we hope everyone really enjoyed the day. We’re already looking forward to next year.”
On offer was an amazing variety of events and hands-on activities. Science in a Suitcase and Dr Death and the Medieval Medicine Man offered engaging presentations in the school hall, followed by a fabulous opportunity to enjoy a demonstration of owl flying.
For the brave, there was the opportunity to handle spiders, snakes and all kinds of wonderful animals. Other activities included making slime and hand puppets, mixing potions and exploring an indoor cave.
Also on display were model railways, boats and Lego robots, while cookery demonstrations served up a range of tasty treats.
