Buxton school erects marquees for pupil contact days

The large tents - each measuring 81 square metres - were provided to give children from years 3, 4 and 5 two slots of two-and-a-half hours each at the school before the summer holiday.
Year 6 pupils returned to the school full-time two weeks ago however governors brought in the marquees to enable two metres distance between pupils from other years during contact visits.

Hide AdThe structures - carpeted and heated by sunlight through their perspex windows - will also allow children from Year 2 infants to meet teachers before they move up to junior school in September.
Headteacher Ros Carter said: “'We are very grateful to Derbyshire County Council's Members’ Community Leadership Fund for contributing towards the costs of these marquees.
“Having extra space for the children to learn and play while remaining socially distanced has made all the difference to Buxton Junior School this term.
“We’re really fortunate that we will have been able to see every child before classes break up - but this has only been possible because we have such amazing grounds allowing us to think outside the box.”
