Buxton school creates heartwarming Easter message for children at home

The heartening keepsake shows photos of 23 staff members - including teachers, teaching assistants and office staff - each holding words from a long message in rainbow colours
It reads: “Hello everyone we miss you all so much and just wanted to wish you a happy Easter from everyone at Buxton Infant School”.

Hide AdAssistant headteacher Sarah Bennett told how although the school was still open for vulnerable children and those of critical workers there was a ‘whole community’ being home-schooled and ‘they are probably missing us’.
Sarah said: “We have 170 pupils and this a way to try and reach out to them.
“It’s quite difficult for the children to understand why they’re not at school - and we play a huge role in their lives at that age.
“We just wanted a bit of positivity and to create an Easter message for them.”

Hide AdAssistant head Sarah - who said the poster had sparked happy feedback and even photos from parents and children - described it ‘unthinkable’ the school had been closed for so long.

Hide AdWhile the school has remained open for keyworker and vulnerable children it was offering support for those at home.
Parents and children could connect with the school on Facebook or through online learning - posting photos of their work.
The school is also delivering hot meals to families who have requested one.
