Vacancies open for apprenticeships at Tarmac near Buxton. Here’s how you can apply
A leading firm creating sustainable building materials and construction solutions is recruiting apprentices for its division at Tunstead, Buxton.
This is a life-changing chance to join Tarmac, a CRH company.
There are roles available for electrical maintenance and mechanical maintenance apprentices, who will ‘earn while they learn’, receiving excellent training over a 48 month programme.
With a mix of on site and training opportunities, and learning from a highly experienced team, these apprenticeships are an excellent alternative to university and academic-only studies.
The ideal candidates will be people who live untangling tech, solving problems and working outdoors.
Roles starting soon
Each apprenticeship comes with a competitive salary, 26 days of core holidays plus bank holidays, a pension scheme and other benefits, offering a gateway to a long career in engineering and maintenance.
What the role needs
You need at least five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including maths, English and a science. Apprentices will spend four years working towards an NVQ level 3 Diploma (ONC).
There’s a mix of day release and on-site training, and at least 30 weeks of the training will take place full-time at a local engineering centre.
The roles operate Monday to Friday, with apprentices working a 40 hour week.
Are you who they are looking for?
If Lego, Meccano and tinkering with gadgets are your things this could be the perfect role for you. You’ll be getting ready to leave school or sixth form this summer, with a passion for stripping down bikes and rebuilding them – the skills needed to embark on this comprehensive and rewarding training scheme, supported all the way by Tarmac. You will also need good communication skills, be ready to work as part of a team whatever the weather, and have a drive to succeed.
Remember, you don’t need to know everyone, you just need to be keen to learn and enthusiastic – this could be the best career decision you will ever make.
Darren Page, early careers manager at Tarmac said: “A career at Tarmac isn’t just a job, it’s a chance to shape the world we live in. Our apprenticeship programmes provide relevant hands-on experience, first class learning and development, and outstanding support.”
Candidates need to be able to get to the Tunstead plant outside of Buxton (public transport is limited). However, transport is provided from the site to the local college.
The closing date for applications is May 31, 2023.
