Buxton’s Crescent Hotel - closed for nearly 30 years - opens its doors on Thursday.

Stunning photos taken during Buxton Advertiser’s sneak preview of the newly-revived hotel’s interior this week show how much work has gone into reopening the 1780s Grade 1-listed Georgian building.

While the faithfully-restored thermal pool and spa areas are now sparkling pictures taken by Darbians Photography show the baths – used as a public pool until 1972 – full of trees and mud before the revamp.

Europe’s largest health spa operator Ensana - who run the hotel - hope to ‘remind people’ Buxton is not the Bath of the north but ‘a destination’ in it’s own right.
