Drama includes a national tour of the ghost story The Woman in Black, scaring audiences onto the edge of their seats (June 16 to 20). There will be a new stage-adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s Gothic horror The Picture of Dorian Gray (May 24) and West End star Jodie Prenger (Oliver!) takes to the stage from May 26 to 30 in Calamity Jane.

Comedy includes the legendary Ken Dodd on May 3, Stewart Lee has fresh material at the ready (May 8) and Michael McIntyre is to perform a warm-up gig for his new arena tour on June 26.

Music highlights include Buxton Festival in July offering thrilling opera, while August brings The National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company with comical operettas. Scottish indie-pop band Belle and Sebastian will appear to a full-house (returns may be available) on May 18, while a new live music event Buxton Folk in May will see leading folk musicians - including June Tabor on May 2 and Celtic Fiddle Festival on May 10 - perform in venues around Buxton.

Children can go face-to-face with a dinosaur during Jurassic Adventures on August 27 and kiddies’ favourite Sing-a-long-a-Frozen returns on August 10.

As well as enjoying some of the best touring theatre, Buxton drama lovers have the opportunity to watch plays at the National Theatre in London, without even leaving the town! NT Live will see broadcasts of The Hard Problem (April 16), Man and Superman (June 1) and Everyman (August 8), screened in Pavilion Arts Centre, using a live link!
