Covid pandemic forces changes to programmes at Chesterfield theatres

Live entertainment continues to be impacted by the coronavirus pandemic with the first two scheduled shows of the year removed from sale at Chesterfield's Winding Wheel and the Pomegranate Theatre’s public reopening put back a month.

Britain’s Got Talent winner Robert White’s Tank Top Tour: Take Two will not go ahead at the Winding Wheel on January 28.

Strictly Come Dancing stars Kevin Clifton and Joanne Clifton will not be performing their show at the Winding Wheel on January 30.

A statement on the website says that the events have been removed from sale due to the pandemic. The venue is currently in discussion with promoters for both shows to be rescheduled, but staff are unable to confirm whether the events have been cancelled or postponed. The message adds: “Our box office team will be in contact as soon as we know. Thank you for your patience during this time.”

Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott have postponed their stripped-back show at the Winding Wheel on January 29 and have urged fans to hold onto their tickets pending the new date which has yet to be announced. The singers say on Chesterfield Theatres’ website: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by this but can’t wait to see and perform for you all.”

The Vintage Boys, due to run on March 4 at the Winding Wheel, has been cancelled because of the pandemic.

The Pomegranate Theatre’s first show of the season is scheduled to be the John Godber comedy, April in Paris, which will star Joe Pasquale and Sarah Earnshaw and is programmed for Chesterfield on March 2 and 3.

Tabs Productions presentation of Live Bed Show, which was rescheduled from the autumn play season to February, has now been put back until April 13 to 17, 2021.

A production of Murder, Margaret and Me at the Pomegranate on March 25 has been cancelled due to the pandemic.
