Live at the Pump House aiming to reach new heights

Pump House Live will feature four afternoon gigs staged on the roof of the Pump Room, in the shadow of the town’s historic Crescent.

The performances, which will take place on July 13, 19, 26 and 27, each day between 1pm and 6pm, follow the incredible success of a similar series of gigs in 2013.

Organiser Greg Smith said: “Last year the gigs were seen as a welcome addition to the Buxton Festival Fringe programme, with hundreds of people flocking to The Slopes to see artists perform in the sunshine.

“The Pump Room roof was the perfect setting, with the beautiful backdrop of the Crescent and natural amphitheatre of The Slopes making it an ideal gig venue.

“This year will be bigger and better, showcasing the best local talent as well as drawing bigger names from the surrounding area. It promises to show Buxton at its finest.”

Energetic punk and new-wave three-piece The Retrospectives are a new addition to the programme for the opening performance on Sunday July 13, which will also feature Dave Cooper, Daisy Chain and El Vino and the Ragged Co.

Four-piece indie blues outfit The Fontaines join Jayne Smee, Life Story Piracy, Rob Lanyon, Fireline and Mazari (DJ set) on Saturday July 19, while the line-up for Saturday July 26 features local favourites Arkham Karvers alongside Nancy Brookes and Fourth Circle.

Psychedelic garage rock band Electroshock Therapy and alternative pop act If You Like to Dance will be joined by Pickering White and Bluski (DJ set) for the final performance on Sunday July 27.

Pump House Live is being held in association with Trevor Osbourne and The Old Hall Hotel.
