After the success of the sell-out charity show Anthems: The Concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall in May 2011, their UK tour of Anthems: The Tour and the release of Kerry and Brian’s single Defying Gravity, the pair will present an evening of world-class music at Buxton Opera House on Wednesday February 19, 2014.

The Candlelight Concert will see them perform stripped-down versions of Queen classics alongside a number of their personal favourite songs, showcasing Ellis’ extraordinary voice and with May accompanying on both guitar and vocals.

The duo have performed together to wide acclaim at events such as the Royal Variety Show, BBC Proms in the Park and The Night of 1000 Voices, and in 2010 memorably opened the Remembrance Day concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

“Although life has taken me into so many new areas recently, music is still what energises me - the greatest joy,” said May. “And Ms Ellis is the most inspiring collaborator - we’re a pretty good band!”

The creator of the role of Meat in Queen’s rock theatrical We Will Rock You, Ellis went on to become a sensation on both sides of the Atlantic starring as the Green Witch in the musical Wicked.

She added: “I can’t tell you how much I enjoy performing these songs with Brian and what fun we have with the audiences in these intimate settings. I feel very honoured and can’t wait to get going.”

Tickets, priced £40, are on sale now from the Buxton Opera House Box Office on 0845 127 2190, or visit www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk.
