The Snowman film with live music is flying back to Buxton
Festive favourite The Snowman, featuring the classic film accompanied by musicians from The Halle and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, returns to Derbyshire this December.
Booking is now open for screenings on December 16 and 17 at The Octagon, Buxton Pavilion Gardens, with a programme that includes school shows, a family evening concert and a relaxed performance for children with additional needs.
The schedule for Buxton is: December 16 – 1.30-2.30pm: schools, 6.30pm to 7.30pm: families; December 17 – 10.3am to 11.30am: relaxed; 1.30pm to 2.30pm: schools.
Rachel Whibley, managing director at Carrot Productions, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that The Snowman is returning to UK venues this Christmas. For many families, attending our performances marks the beginning of their Christmas celebrations.”
Performances feature the haunting Walking in the Air solo sung by a local young soloist chosen through audition, as well as a Christmas medley, a fun introduction to the orchestra and a visit from The Snowman.
Alongside The Snowman, audiences will be able to see an exclusive animated film of the award-winning book The Bear and the Piano by David Litchfield, commissioned by Carrot Productions in 2017. This tale of music, friendship and adventure features music by Daniel Whibley played live by the orchestra, and a narration recorded by Joanna Lumley.
Rachel added: “Our shows always sell out super quickly – even more so this year due to COVID-safe restricted capacities – and we’re advising schools and families to book early to avoid disappointment.”
Tickets are priced from £9 and available from www.carrotproductions.com/snowman
