Festive woes fuelfun-packed feast

Buxton Drama League will be exploring a dysfunctional family Christmas in their latest production of Alan Ayckbourn’s black comedy Season’s Greetings.

Running at the Pavilion Arts Centre later this month, the show depicts Christmas at its most uncomfortably hilarious.

The play is packed with farcical mishaps which centre on the Bunker family.

Neville’s tinkering with his latest gadget, Ian’s coveted his son’s comic, Pattie wants more attention whilst Phyllis is ruining the roast.

Meanwhile Harvey’s giving the children guns as presents, Bernard’s rehearsing his latest, dreaded, puppet show, and Belinda’s just trying to keep the celebrations (and her marriage) going.

All they need is the arrival of an up-and-coming writer to stir things up.

Buxton Drama League, who have an excellent reputation for entertaining theatre (Butley, Oh What A Lovely War and Breaking the Code) have joined forces with celebrated Buxton puppet company Funny Wonders to provide bespoke set pieces.

Season’s Greetings runs at Pavilion Arts Centre, Buxton, from Thursday, November 26, through to Friday, November 28 at 7.30pm, with a matinee on the Saturday at 2.30pm.
