Exile festival - the best yet!

“Our tenth anniversary Exile Fest has been the best so far,” said one of the founding organisers, Andy Martin. “We continue to do what we set out to achieve - book local bands, showcase young Derbyshire bands, such as Hivemind, as well as presenting a variety of music from rock to classic.

“We could not put on this festival to keep the ticket price reasonably low, without the hard work and dedication of our volunteer staff. When you see everyone having a great time listening to great music, it makes it all worthwhile.”

The weekend’s event at Sabine Hay, near Darley Dale, attracted more than 300 music fans from all over the country and performers from as far afield as Germany as well as homegrown talent.

Regular festival-goer Susie Brighouse said: “I enjoyed our local performers such as Joe Ash, Heartless Tarts and Greg Urwin Mann. I’m sure everyone would agree the highlights of the weekend were the funny and poignant storytellers, Harp and a Monkey and the magical performance of the world music Manchester based, band Project Jam Sandwich.

On the festival’ss Facebook site Sian Wood said: “Exile Fest is the prettiest, friendliest little music festival, set in the beautiful Peak District. Family orientated, lovely camping and real ale. Perfect.”
