Crossley, from Fleetwood in Lancashire, will be taking families on a magical carpet ride to remember when she plays a starring role as Princess Jasmine in the theatre’s annual Christmas showcase.

The actress played Scarlett Nicholls in Emmerdale for five years and also made it through to the battle rounds on BBC talent show The Voice last year.

Aladdin, the classic tale of the poor laundry boy, the beautiful princess and the genie, will be given a fresh twist by adding new comedy routines, dance numbers and songs.

The production also stars James Holmes as Widow Twankey. Holmes will be familiar to viewers as camp restaurant owner Clive Evans in the award-winning comedy series Miranda.

Performances at the Water Street venue will take place between December 12 and January 2.

Tickets are available to buy online at www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk, priced between £17.50 and £22.50, or call the box office on 0845 127 2190.
