The atmospheric old house will be dressed for Christmas with greenery, pine cones and ivy wreathes. Cinnamon, cloves and oranges combined with the smell of the green decoration will help to make this a delight for all senses as visitors wander around looking at the huge and varied collection of items.

A free shuttle bus from outside the Bakewell Co-op store (opposite Boots) on Saturday only at 10.45am – 3pm will help you save energy to enjoy the entertainment on offer.

Anita Spencer, museum manager, said: “This atmospheric old building with beamed rooms and massive open fireplaces lends itself so well to events. We are all excited to be opening our doors at this special time of year.”

Combine your visit with the spectacular Festival of Trees at the Parish Church, just across the road from the museum.

Admission to the museum is £4 (adults), £2 (child), £11.50 (family), guided walks £3.
