Award-winning Brighouse & Rastrick Band perform in Buxton Opera House on Friday, December 19.

The muscians will combine their talents with ex-Houghton Weavers frontman Norman Prince for a night of feelgood entertainment.

The band was formed over 125 years ago through public donations given by the adjacent villages of Brighouse and Rastrick that face each other across the River Calder in West Yorkshire.

Today, it still continues to be supported through public subscriptions and its own fund raising efforts.

The band have twice won the National Championships of Great Britain at the Royal Albert Hall.

In 1977 the band’s recording of The Floral Dance reached number 2 in the UK singles chart, where it stayed for nine weeks.
