A Touch of Frost actor heads for Derbyshire

John plays the title role in Father Brown - The Curse of the Invisible Man which is based on the classic mysteries by G. K. Chesterton.

The drama starts after multiple murders have already been committed. The culprit leaves no trace, baffling everyone. Can he (or she) be truly invisible? And is it all really due to some malevolent ancient curse as some people say? Mild-mannered Father Brown, apparently on the sidelines of this horrific affair, reveals hidden depths as his incisive deductions peel away the many layers of this haunting case, until he finally unmasks the killer. But in the meantime – could the murderer strike again?

Chesterton wrote his Father Brown short stories in the early 20th century. The character was loosely based on Father O’Connor, a parish priest that the writer came into contact with when he converted to Catholicism. The whodunit series has had a resurgence of popularity following a BBC One Father Brown TV series in 2013.

Other drama coming up at Buxton Opera House next month includes Chaplin on June 12, a heart-warming musical tale, from Charlie Chaplin’s early journey as a young boy in the dark streets of ictorian Vaudeville London, through to the glitz of early Hollywood.

For those who loved ITV’s popular Sunday evening drama Heartbeat, the hit show will be brought to stage with all the usual mayhem, mini-skirts and music, from June 14 to 18.
