Girls' team bowled over by donation

Youngster cricketers will benefit from specialist training and equipment thanks to a cash donation from a supermarket.

The Waitrose Buxton Community Matters scheme gave £188 to Hayfield Girls Cricket Team, which is the only all girls cricket team in the High Peak Area.

The team currently has under 11 and under 15 teams and offers training and coaching currently for girls from Buxton, Chapel, Chinley, Hayfield and Glossop.

The teams play matches against other girls teams from South Derbyshire and Cheshire areas. Three of the girls recently progressed to play for Derbyshire at under 11 and under 13 and under 15 squads,
