High Peak MP Andrew Bingham joined walkers on day six of their trans-Pennine charity challenge and walked from Peak Forest to Edale.

The 140-kilometre walk from Sheffield to Manchester was organised by the Meningitis Research Foundation to mark their 25th anniversary.

Led by chief executive Christopher Head, the eight-day hike through the Peak District began on May 23 and passed through Hope, Bamford, Bakewell, Buxton, Castleton and Glossop.

Each walker was required to raise £100 in sponsorship. Funds will enable the charity to continue vital medical research into the treatment, detection and prevention of meningitis.
