Geological formations and flowing or still water have often been taken as a subject by artists.

Rocks and Water, a new exhibition which launches on March 21 at Buxton Museum and Art Gallery, showcases works in the venue’s collection from the 18th to 21st centuries. The works include engravings, oil paintings and watercolours, Scottish landscapes and Lake District scenes.

The museum is open Tuesday to Friday from 9.30am to 5.30pm and Saturday from 9.30am to 5pm.
