A new production of the ballet Giselle has its world premiere in Manchester this week.

It is the first full-length ballet to be choreographed by Akram Khan.

Giselle is among migrant workers cast out of their jobs in a condemned garment factory. She is in love with a member of the privileged class who disguises himself as an outcast to woo her.

Performed by English National Ballet, Giselle is at Manchester’s Palace Theatre until October 1.
