One of Verdi’s most popular operas will be staged in Buxton - and you could win tickets to watch it.
La Traviata is currently being toured around England Kingdom by the Russian State Ballet and Opera House.
Buxton Opera House will host the production on Thursday, September 17, which will be sung in Italian with English surtitles accompanied by a 30-strong live orchestra.
This haunting tragedy, with its beautiful arias, will transport you into the entrancing world of French high society in the 1850s.
The show revolves around a courtesan called Violetta whose life is a round of endless parties until a young nobleman, Alfredo Germont, convinces her to live in the country with him.
All is blissful contentment until Alfredo’s father arrives and tells Violetta that the affair is threatening the family’s honour. Desperate to save Alfredo from disgrace Violetta leaves their rural idyll and returns to Paris and into the arms of another…
La Traviata will be staged at Buxton Opera House at 7.30pm. Tickets £20-£36.
