Unlucky breaks for Fringe comic

He is bringing his aptly-titled show, “Stuart Laws. So preoccupied with whether or not he could that he didn’t stop to think whether he should,” to Buxton Festival Fringe.

Stuart’s fourth show is another hour of his hallmark left-field anecdotes, this time about the boy who leaves his hometown and returns as a man ten years later. Will they accept him...or even remember him? Expect tales from the summer of 2001, breweries, paper rounds and puffins.

Laws casts his eye over the often-overlooked with acute observations that have seen him recognised as an original, well-crafted standout on the comedy circuit.

He said: “I realised I wanted to do this show the first time I ever mentioned the summer I worked at a puffin sanctuary on stage. It’s not a normal summer job and I started to realise that it has massively shaped who I am and certainly the comedy I do.”

A regular support act for James Acaster, Laws is part of the Weirdo’s Collective and has performed in Nick Helm’s Christmas shows as well as performing his stand up on BBC Radio 4.

Stuart will perform at Underground Venues, Buxton, on July 7 at 8.45pm and July 9 at 7.15pm.
