Music, burlesque and acrobatics will launch New Mills Festival in style this week.

The Baghdaddies and Lazlo Baby will perform songs and tunes, Raven Noir will offer burlesque, Les Deux Ailes will provide acrobatics and there will be titillating tales from compere Rosie Lugosi. The Fabaret night at Torr Vale Mill on Friday, September 13, will raise money for the festival and Music in Hospitals and Care.

The festival brings fairs, food, music and art and lantern processions to town.

Running just over a fortnight until September 29, the festival will see the return of favourites such as BUBBLEFEST and The Art Trail & Big Weekend which turns the town into an art gallery.

One of the most unusual events is speed portraiting at the Beer Shed with Andrea Joseph. This new take on speed dating involves drawing portraits of your matches against the clock.
