Talented youth

YOUNG musicians are giving a series of concerts of light and classical music. The players are members of the flagship senior ensembles of Peak District Music Centres.

The first concert will take place on Saturday February 12 at St John’s Church, Buxton, at 7.30pm, when the Peak District String Orchestra will play Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, plus music by Elgar and Warlock. They will be joined by High Peak Wind Band, performing music ranging from Morricone’s haunting Gabriel’s Oboe to a suite from Les Miserables.

Tickets, priced £8, are available on the door, by calling 07772 021 653 or emailing chewitt.pdmc@yahoo.co.uk0077.

Concerts will take place on March 11 at the Medway Centre, Bakewell, and April 2 at St John’s Church, Buxton.
