Sports students from Buxton & Leek College helped youngsters with special needs discover fun new ways to keep fit at the fifth annual Sport Without Barriers event held in Buxton’s Dome.

Pupils from 20 primary schools and two secondary schools in the Derbyshire Dales and High Peak areas came together for the event which showcased opportunities for disabled youngsters in the area. Aided by the college students, the pupils tried everything from martial arts to crazy golf.

Peak Dale pupil Sam Shaw, 9, who is pictured, said:“I’ve got a badge for taking part and I’ve done jujitsu, golf, basketball and boccia. I really like playing golf.”
