New Mills Festival events at St George’s

WATER of Life is the theme of a flower festival at St George’s Parish Church in New Mills, which gets underway with a special open evening tonight (Thursday).

The church, on St George’s Road, will be filled with spectacular floral displays during the four-day event.

It will be open today (Friday), tomorrow (Saturday) and Monday between 10.30am and 5.30pm, and on Sunday from 11.30am until 4.30pm followed by a Songs of Praise at 6.30pm. On Friday and Saturday, between noon and 2pm, lunches will be served in the Parish Hall.

This is the first of two New Mills Festival events at the church, the second being an appearance by comedian Tony Vino at St George’s Parish Hall on Saturday September 22, at 7.30pm.

Tony is best known for mixing well-thought-out observational humour with audience interaction and quick-witted responses.

Tickets, priced £6 (£4 concessions), are available on 01663 746130 or at
