WELL-KNOWN local celebrities Colin and Janette Sykes will be ‘Making Music’ as part of the New Mills Community Festival.
The Friends of Spring Bank Arts Centre present the evening of music in the Parish Hall on Church Lane, New Mills, on Sunday September 11, at 7.30pm.
Performers Colin and Janette Sykes, better known as one half of “Four to the Bar”, will be striking out as a duo on this occasion, with Janette on vocals and Colin on keyboard. They promise a programme of favourite pieces, with a hint of a continental flavour.
Colin is Transport and Environmental Correspondent for BBC’s North West Tonight. Janette is also a reporter and media celebrity; her work was read in many homes when she was the founding editor of the magazine “Peak District Life”. Since that magazine was absorbed into “Derbyshire Life” she has been influential as PR executive for the tourist board that promotes Derbyshire and the High Peak.
This husband and wife combo just enjoy making music – usually as members of “Four to the Bar”. In this special appearance, they will be inviting a New Mills audience to go along and enjoy some of their kind of music – and all profits will go to the exciting new Spring Bank Arts Centre project.
Tickets for ‘Making Music’ can be obtained in advance from New Mills Original on 01663 746202 or the ticket hotline on 01663 744233, priced £7 (concessions £5.50). Friends of St James’ are entitled to discounts on pre-purchased tickets.
