Buxton Music Speech and Drama Festival gets underway this weekend.
The event will run on Friday April 8 and Saturday April 9, as well as on Saturday April 16.
Competitions start in the Octagon on Friday morning at 9am with piano classes, and then choir classes at 10am.
There are piano classes between 10am and 1pm in St John’s Church, including the highly-entertaining piano duet and trio classes.
Entry to morning and afternoon sessions costs £3, with concessions for pensioners. Children and students are free.
In the afternoon, there are classes in both St John’s Church from 2pm, and the junior singers are in the Methodist Church, again from 2pm.
The evening winners’ concert will be at 6.30pm in St John’s Church, and should finish by 8pm. Entry to the concert is £4 for adults and free for children.
Adult vocal and piano classes, and junior strings classes, are in the Methodist Church on Saturday (April 9), while drama and music ensemble classes are on April 16, with drama in the upper room at the Methodist Church, ensembles in St John’s Church in the morning, junior singers in the Methodist Church in the morning and junior brass in the afternoon.
The event is grateful to its sponsors and advertisers, and the ‘Friends of Buxton MSD Festival’.
