MULTI-MILLION selling recording artist Barbara Dickson OBE - who has an equally-impressive Olivier Award-winning acting career – will be in concert at Buxton Opera House on Sunday August 19, at 7.30pm.
Dickson, one of the most enduring and popular artistes in Britain today, will perform with her band – Nick Holland, Brad Lang and Russell Field – with support from Jessica Lawson.
Scottish-born Dickson began her career on the Scottish and English folk circuit, working with the likes of Billy Connolly, Gerry Rafferty, Rab Noakes and Archie Fisher. Willy Russell cast her in his 1974 Beatles musical John, Paul, George, Ringo… and Bert,
Dickson produced hits such as Answer Me, January February, Caravans, Another Suitcase In Another Hall and I Know Him So Well – cementing her status as one of the UK’s most popular female vocalists.
In 1983 she starred in Blood Brothers, which established her as a highly-respected actress.
Now in her 44th year in the business, Dickson recently performed at the Celtic Connections Festival in memory of Gerry Rafferty, and also released a new album, Words Unspoken, which explores the music of the British Isles and includes more favourites from her ‘shirt box of songs’.
