Derbyshire violinist and singer Lizzie Ball was joined by Mexican guitarist Morgan Szymanski for a musical journey though the life, art and fashion of Frida
Kahlo, writes Mavis Kirkham.
The music and songs were illustrated by Frida’s paintings and photos of her and her wide and famous social circle. There were also pictures of her dresses from the current exhibition on her fashion at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
There was haunting and lively music and the presentation showed us the pain which the artist suffered as well as the exotic beauty she created.
This concert at Buxton’s Pavilion Arts Centre also enabled us to see another side of this really versatile local musician.
I am looking forward to Lizzie Ball’s own festival later this year.
