A TIDESWELL choir and musicians from the RAF will be joining forces to raise money for three charities which help servicemen and their dependents.
Tideswell Male Voice Choir and the Band of the Royal Air Force College will be airing their talents in a concert at Buxton Opera House on Sunday October 9, at 7.30pm.
Proceeds from the Reach for the Skies concert will be donated to Help for Heroes, RAFA and the RAF Benevolent Fund.
The choir’s principal conductor and musical director, Dennis Kay, said: “To obtain the services of this superb band is a real coup and the audience is assured of a wonderful evening’s entertainment.”
The musical spectacular will feature the vocal talents of both musical directors, a performance of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and the choir’s principal accompanist and concert pianist Christopher Ellis.
A 19-year-old member of the choir will contribute one of his musical arrangements to the programme.
Over the past five years, the choir has raised more than £20,000 for local cancer charities.
The Band of the RAF College undertakes a wide variety of concerts throughout the country and overseas, with monies raised going to charities such as Help for Heroes and RAFA.
Tickets for Reach for the Skies cost £25 and are available from the box office at Buxton Opera House on 0845 127 2190 or from Maureen Edge on 01298 77947.
